As a true-to-color, artful, and fun photographer who has shot over 100 Stanford grads.

Timing of Year
Schedule your grad photos as soon as possible! Stanford students are known to procrastinate. While we love that spontaneity, the closer it gets to graduation, the more people you’ll find in the background of your shots and the longer you’ll wait your turn at iconic spots. I recommend reaching out to me in April for early bird pricing and first dibs on the best session times.

Timing of Day
Evening Sessions (May–June): Between 6:00–7:30 PM is pure magic. The sun hasn’t yet crested Main Quad, so you’ll find that dreamy mix of shaded spots, soft sun, and gorgeous backlight. Lots of clients trust me to chase the best light. Every session is a little different, and I love customizing the route to what looks best that day.

Morning Sessions: If you’re more of an early bird (or just want to beat the crowds), 6:30 or 7:00 AM is ideal. Yes, it’s early, but you’ll have the campus to yourself, and the light is clean and soft. This is the best time if you want peaceful, uninterrupted photos at the most popular spots.
Best Photo Spots Around Stanford
Memorial Court – Classic, stately, and iconic. Get a picture with a Rodin sculpture here too!
Fuzzy Arch facing Green Library – Great symmetry and framing. Great for walking and far away shots.

Green Library Fountain – Especially stunning when flowers bloom in May.
Behind Memorial Church – Quiet, intimate, and full of charm. Great place if there is an event in Main Quad or it is just too crowded. There is a rose garden here too!
Arcade Hallways – Timeless, architectural, and dramatic in the best way.
History Department Corner – My favorite for champagne spray shots. It’s open and safe for celebratory chaos!
Tips to Make the Most of Your Grad Session
Prep your gear: Open your cap and gown ahead of time to smooth creases and attach your tassel.
Tame the wind: Sew quarters into the ends of your stoles to weigh them down and keep them in place.
Bring props or custom outfits: Stoles, caps, champagne bottles, special jewelry, class rings and cultural outfits are all welcome.
Ariella brought a special necklace to her Stanford graduation photoshoot.
